Meet Derek

Derek Roy

Derek was born in Ottawa Ontario and speaks French and English.

He was drafted 32nd overall by Buffalo Sabres and played 11 season in the NHL, recording 189 goals and 335 assists for a total of 524 points in 738 games. 

Derek also played 7 years in some of the best leagues in Europe (NLA, KHL, SHL,DEL). 

He represented Canada multiple times with two World championship silver medals (08,09), one Olympic bronze medal in 2018, a silver medal at the World Juniors (03), and a Gold medal at the U18 World championship. He won the Memorial Cup as the “captain and MVP”, and the NLA Swiss league. 

Derek is used to work with the Gary Roberts High-Performance team. He has recently started transmitting his knowledge and passion for the game as a skills and power skating coach for elite players. He is a health and Fitness enthusiast.

He is the father of a 2 year old son.
